The GCSE examination period is well under way
Dear Parent / Carers

The GCSE examination period is well under way and I’d like to take this opportunity to say how impressed I have been with the Year 11 cohort. Examinations I have witnessed have been exemplary. The students have shown their maturity and conformed exceptionally well following exam conditions and regulations. The exam period is stretched over a number of weeks this year and this is to accommodate students in the unfortunate event of testing positive for Covid – 19. What this has allowed is for an in-house revision timetable to be delivered in school. It is vital that your child attends schools until the leaving date.
I would like to make you aware when the Year 11 cohort will leave Millom School. The date is Thursday 23 June at 12 noon. On this date the students will be required to bring in a spare polo shirt, for signing and their own pen should they wish to write on other student’s polo shirts. Students will not be able to sign polo shirts that are being worn. It is paramount that this is adhered to because students have an exam on this date and they will not be able to enter the examination hall with a signed shirt. Year 11 students will also receive their leavers hoodie if they have purchased one.
As your child starts to make the transition in their next chapter of education, being mindful of the next steps is important. Your child must contact their college to enquire what bridging units are being offered. This will help prepare them for the move and aid smooth transition. Please be aware that if your child has an apprenticeship they must contact the college they will be accessing not the employer. If your child is returning to Millom Sixth Form we will be in touch with regard to the bridging units in due course.
The Millom School Eco Club have kindly requested for any unwanted Millom School uniform items. If any families feel they are able to help with this request, please donate any items to the school reception. Many thanks in advance for your support with this request.
More information regarding GCSE results day will be sent out in due course. If you have any queries please contact your child’s tutor.
Yours faithfully,

Donna Burgess
