Millom School is very proud of the achievement of its students and its track record in supporting students to secure employment with training, apprenticeships and places at universities, sixth forms and colleges, allowing students to continue their education and develop their skills in preparation for their future career plans.
The table below shows the destinations of last year’s (2017-18) Year 11 cohort of 87 students and the cohorts from the previous two years of sizes 82 and 75 respectively. The “Other” category includes school sixth forms other than Millom School, Barrow Sixth Form College and Colleges of Further Education, including Newton Rigg, Preston College and the Lakes College.

Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) | 1% | 2% | 1% |
21 students successfully secured apprenticeships, a huge increase on previous years. This year placements included BAE, Gen 2 (Sellafield), care, early years, hair and beauty and construction.
The percentage of our students not in education or employment with training is well below national average for all three cohorts. In 2016, this represented only one student identified as NEET; in 2017 there were two students identified as NEET; in 2018 there is one student identified as NEET. These percentages are also lower than other providers in the Furness area and are a result of the fantastic careers and progression pathways advice and guidance we offer at Millom School.
