Personal Development at Millom School
Organisation of the PD Department:
All year groups have one lesson (one hour) a week of Personal Development.
At KS 3: Year7 and 8 students are taught in tutor groups and therefore are mixed ability groups.
Year 9 students are taught in set groups according to their ability
At KS4:Yr10 and 11 students are taught in sets according to their ability.
Curriculum:
The curriculum in Personal Development is made up of four main strands which are Personal Wellbeing, Economic Wellbeing including Careers Education, Citizenship and Religious Education. Outside agencies and guest speakers will be used, where possible, to share their knowledge and expertise. These will include careers advice (various companies, colleges and universities), Millom Children’s Centre and V. Sekasi the Furness Network Youth Minister.

Year 7
Personal Well-being – Relationships: Friendship / Bullying / Anti-bullying week
Sex Education: Puberty and personal hygiene. Basics of sex education and STIs.
Drugs Education: Smoking and alcohol
