Quotes from Year 10 students re The Careers Fair

Lindsey Gibson
After GCSE, I would like to go on to get A-levels, which would give me the qualifications needed to go to university and study to be a paramedic. The NHS representative said that the more work experience I had, for example, becoming a first responder, would give me a better chance of getting the career I want, as studying to be a paramedic is competitive to get into.

Millie Cummings
I would like to go to the Arm Foundation College to be trained in combat and after that to go to university and study Education to become a teacher. The Careers Fair was very useful, as I was undecided on which I wanted to do first but speaking to the representative from the Army gave ma clearer idea. I spoke to him about what happens if I go to the Army College and where it could take me in life.

Mia Dobson
I plan to stay on at Millom School Sixth Form and I am thinking of studying sport. I’m not yet sure what I would like to do after sixth form, but the Careers Fair helped to give me an idea of the ranges of jobs and apprenticeship opportunities. I found out what grades and qualifications I would need for apprenticeships and to go to university.

Beth Reece
I would like to study at Myerscough College and pursue a career in veterinary nursing. Myerscough inspired me to aim high and think positively to achieve my career goals. The Careers Fair helped me decide what career I really want to do and the facilities provided by Myerscough are perfect for me.

Luke Coulson
I want to apply for an electrical apprenticeship at BAE. I spoke to BAE representatives at the Careers Fair and they told me exactly what electricians do and what grades I would need to achieve to apply. I went round and spoke to all of the stands and got lots of information for Sellafield and GSK, as well.

Astin Mossop
The Careers Fair helped me a lot, for example, thinking of what I would like to do at BAE such as welding or being an electrician. I think I would like to apply for a welding apprenticeship. They have me a lot of advice like grade requirements and the types of things I do in my spare time, which might help my application.
